Worked like a charm.
I found a video online that explained how to check if the pump was working, how to dismantle it, check it , and re-assemble. I did this twice, and the second time the old pump finally managed to send some water out. Hence, to me, the old pump was faulty or worn out. So I took the plunge and bought a new one and now my coffee machine works like a new one.

ULKA pump
delivery was fast and efficient. the pump fitted perfectly. most difficult part was taking the old E61 body apart to get access to the pump mounting. machine works like a new thing now. checked the dead pump and it showed manufacture date of 2000, making it nearly 20 years old. good quality stuff

Vibration Pump
Vibration Pump works really well. If you are going to buy this pump, also purchase the small plastic valve and O ring that screws into this.

Replace one pump for another.
Was able to replace like for like with no trouble at all. Didn't work straight away because the milk frother was blocked so a slight diversion was required.
